December Goals

Hi friends!  Happy Wednesday to you 😀  How are y’all doing?  I started coming down with a cold earlier this week so I am currently loading up on tea, water and  lots of vitamin C!  I decided to take the week off of running in order to get better- it is flippin’ cold out and I don’t think that helps the cold much.  Originally I was going to take a break from hot yoga too but what can I say- I’m addicted to it and I’m feeling better 😉

Monday evening was blend-tastic 😀  I got together with some of my favorite local blends to enjoy some of the best pizza I’ve ever had at DeFazio’s in Troy.  If you are local, I highly recommend checking it out!  The staff was super friendly and the pizza was amazing!

I had a lot of fun girls!  I’m looking forward to another blend pizza date in the future 😀

Ah, onto my goals for December.  It’s a little late but I have been following them since the start of the month.

Goals:

Personal

  1. Spend quality time with friends.  ‘Tis the season and what better way to spend it than catching up with friends?  I am heading to Long Island this weekend to spend time with Nicole, one of my oldest and closest friends (and unofficial race photog, woohoo!).  Heather is hosting a fun cookie swap and one of my other besties, Kristin, will be in town for two weeks for Christmas break.  Yes!  It is going to be a fun month.
  2. Change my last name on my social security card and passport.  So simple yet I keep forgetting to do it.  Get ‘er done!
  3. Frame photos for office.  I’ve had a few photos waiting to be put in a frame to be hung on the walls of my office.  For about a year.  No more slacking!
  4. Organize my closet.  Ugh.  Melissa, you should come help.  😀

Fitness/Health-wise

  1. No meat- track food intake daily to record how meatless diet impacts how I feel.   Why I stopped eating meat this month is a story for another post.  In the meantime, I’ve made a committment to not eat meat and to track everything I eat and drink and record how I feel- tired, well-rested, etc.  So far it is going pretty well!

2.  Maintain base mileage of 40 miles/month.  I’m not sure how this will pan out, seeing as how I am taking this week off.  It’s okay though 😀

3.  Attend three to four hot yoga classes per week, except when traveling.   I love how hot yoga makes me feel.  I am addicted for sure!

4.  Partake in Kacy’s 20 salads in December challenge.  Basically, I have to eat twenty salads this month.  I can totally do it and it is a fun way to incorporate more greens into my life.  So far I am on salad four, I think.  image

My lunch today was a huge salad beast- spring mix, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and cashews.  The star of the show in this salad was Annie’s Papaya Poppy Seed dressing!  So. Effing. Good!   If you see it, you should buy it!

So, those are my goals.  Have you set any goals for this month?  Is it flippin’ freezing where you are too?

Have a good one, peeps!

  1. Ohh that salad looks sooooooooooo delicious! Where’s my fork?
Will have to try Difazios. It’s right in my home town!
Let’s pick a day & get your closet ORGANIZED! 🙂
    Hope you feel better!

  2. It is flippin’ freezing where I am 😉 I hope you have a great day Katie! I am really interested to see how no meat has impacted you. Can’t wait to read about that. xoxo

  3. Looks like fun – good pizza in the winter is the best! I really miss hot yoga – right now it’s not feasible for me to have a gym membership AND pay to go to a yoga studio in Boston, but someday I really hope to get back into it. It’s such a dynamic, hard workout!

  4. Sounds like you have lots of fun stuff going on this month! I want to go to a cookie swap!!

I make 4 goals each month. This month is: 1. Workout for a minimum of 30 minutes each day. I think this is the only way I’ll get through the holidays without packing on the pounds. I can always find 30 minutes to be active. 2. Run at least one 10 mile run. Did this last weekend. 3. Organize my closet (roll over goal from November) and 4. Put my entire extra pyacheck this month on my credit card.

Love your goals, I need to focus on always having non-workout related goals.

  6. J

I love salads! I should eat them more often. Looks like some great goals!

  7. love the salad idea and of course more quality time!! I had gone nearly meat free but have switched back lately and I’m still trying to figure out how i feel

  8. Laura

I love your necklace and that salad looks delicious. My goal for this month is to get back into a workout routine. My treadmill and workout DVDs are set up, so now I just need to get to it.

  9. What a fun meetup:) I’ve met Courtney – such a doll!
    Great goals!

  10. Pam

That salad sounds awesome! I’m taking a mental note of that dressing. There’s only one grocery store around here that carries Annie’s, and I don’t remember seeing that one before. My favorite is the roasted red pepper. 🙂

  11. It’s flippin freezing here! 30s and 40s is cold for SC.

I should probably eat more salads. I’ve gotten so into roasted veggies that I hardly eat veggies raw anymore. The thought of chopping all those veggies though…

  12. lowandbhold

Yay for blends and pizza! And yay for the salad challenge, that one looks bomb! Good luck with the rest of your goals, they look great!

  13. I’m going to NYC this wknd and cannot wait! But I hear it’s as cold as it is here so I hope it snows 🙂

Bloggie meetups are the best. Add pizza to the mix and it makes it even better. I am trying to be better with spending quality time with friends but sometimes it is just so tough especially during the work wk. When I get home from work, I want to relax and cuddle with my fur baby and veg.

I think today’s high was 28. In Georgia!

I haven’t changed my name either. It just seems like such a pain.

  15. It is freezing here down in NC!!

I’m with you on framing pictures for the office… I’ve worked at my job for over a year and still haven’t personalized my desk/space that much!

  16. Just found your blog… I linked to it through Jen’s. When your page popped up, I was like, “hey, I’ve seen her before!”. I recognized you from JP’s site… he did my wedding/engagement photos too. Smalbany… ha 😉

Anyway… Love the salad goal for December! I always find it so hard to eat fresh veggies when it’s cold out. All I want it pasta or chili for dinner! And the social security card name change thing? I feel ya. I’ve been driving around with the filled-out application in my car for a full year. Maybe someday I’ll actually drop it off!

  17. I’m so terrible about setting goals… my goal for next year is to set monthly goals and only have one or two huge goals for the whole year.

Lets see if this actually happens? haha

It was lovely seeing you! Can’t wait for the cookie exchange 🙂

  18. Great goals! I especially love the ones to spend time with friends and the salad goal. I set a few goals for the month last week for both fitness and writing. I tried to balance them with the fact that this month is busy with all the holiday goings-on.

  19. Well, right now my main goal is to survive finals. But after I’m done with that and home I want to go to yoga 3 times a week and enjoy time with my family and friends : )

    Love your goals!
